Negroni is one of my favourite cocktails. It is very straightforward to make containing just three ingredients in equal quantities. There are many options for varying these ingredients and the way the cocktail is served.
Why make a Negroni?
- Only 3 Ingredients
- Tastes Delicious
Ingredients
- 1 oz (30ml) Tanqueray No.10 or other high strength Gin
- 1 oz (30ml) Carpano Antica Formula or other Sweet Vermouth
- 1 oz (30m) Campari

Equipment

- 1 x 6 oz Coupe for serving
- 1 x 1 oz Jigger
- 1 x Mixing Glass
- 1 x Bar stirrer
- 1 x Food safe thermometer (optional)
- 1 x Strainer
- Ice Cubes
Method
Chill a coupe glass by placing a few ice cubes and some water in it. Whilst it is chilling, also chill a mixing glass the same way. Empty out the chilled mixing glass and add the Tanqueray, Carpano and Campari into the glass. Add some ice cubes and then stir the drink until it cools to 27.5°F (-3.5°C). You can by a food save thermometer to measure the temperature whilst you stir. If you don’t have one then stir for at least 40 seconds with at least 6 ice cubes which should result in your drink being at or close to the target temperature. Empty out the ice and water from your coupe and poor your drink into the glass using a strainer to retain any remaining ice in the mixing glass. Garnish with some orange peel expressing some of the oils over the glass first. Enjoy your drink!
